I'm in Vista now but when I was just in my Win 7 the DxDiag stated "7601.17514" which is most definitely the final version according to all the articles I'm reading, but I got mine from a different source from you guys I think.

I guess we'll know, for sure, soon enough but I'm having no issues.
Today a German tech writer said that it was confirmed that this was the "official" SP1. He went on to say that Microsoft distributed it to partners too today, but he listed no sources.

All we have to base it on is his rep (10+ years in the business, and regarded as one of the top German reporters on MS is what I hear)

Out of curiosity, why did you use DxDiag and not MGADiag and the registry key for "Current Version"? For what it's worth, my DxDiag shows 6.01.7601.17514, as well.

What's your Win 7 build number showing?

MGADiag says mine is Build lab: 7601.win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850. Does that look the same as yours?

Perhaps someone could explain how one gets mgadiag to work? All I get is an error that Windows can't find it.

Also, which registry key is that?

Thank you all for the replies! So, i went Googling! No hint that the final has been officially released by MS! You are all BIG GUYS in this thread and i feel like a MIDGET! My gut feeling is they(MS) will release it "for the masses(i am one of them)" after making absolutely sure that it's clean as a whistle! What say?

    Regards,

OK, let Google be your friend.........

    MGADIAG

    Under the Windows tab:

    Windows OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.00010.1.0.001
    Architecture & Build: 7601.win7sp1_rtm.10119-1850

    Under the Licensing tab:

    Software licensing service version: 6.1.7601.17514

    and.....

according to all the articles I have found the final release is

    7601.17514.win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850

In other words, the one I have is the final version.

There is bad news though, something, somewhere and it wasn't me, adjusted my allotted disk space to System Protection to 0, so I can't use System Restore to go back even if I wanted to........in other words I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Edit: and here's a hopefully more legible pic of the registry key:
