That appears to be when the new revision will be ready. The new parts won't be shipped until April if that's true. It appears all current boards will be replaced.

Or wait for the EVGA ones (they won't have these issues [confirmed by their product manager]).

EVGA would be smart to release their P67 boards before recalling begins.

Just Sayin'...
Well EVGA won't be able to release any "fixed" ones until the same time everyone else can.
As far as I'm concerned, EVGA boards don't suffer from this issue, so they won't have to wait for B3 in order release their boards.

However, what is very clear is that this is a silicon level issue as Intel has already stopped the manufacturing of its current revision of its Cougar Point chipsets and will have a new revision ready in late February, although volume shipments aren’t expected to be in full swing until April.
The only reason EVGA isn't going to be affected is because they've not released anything yet, so won't have to worry about RMAs. It just means that anyone waiting for an EVGA board will have to wait until April as well.

It's doesn't bother me much that Intel shipped a bad Northbridge chip, but the last paragraph of that article should get McAfee users worried:

Quote:
Separately, Intel said its acquisition of Infineon Technologies AG Wireless Solutions business has been completed and it expects its buyout of security software maker McAfee to close by the end of the first quarter.
When hardware manufacturers start messing about in the software business, it can mean only one thing: Disaster.

McAfee users better start considering other options...

It seems like I'll just move my two HDDs to the 6 Gbps ports and wait to hear what Gigabyte's plans will be.

They should have been doing this a few years ago. McAfee has been bloated junk for quite some time.

Apparently only the defective boards have been shipping since Jan 9th. I hope that is true.

That was when the new 6 series chipsets and Sandy Bridge processors were released. There weren't any 6 series in production before that.

Thanks for the link to the official statement

Sounds like its not really a big deal, though I may as well replace mine. I will have to see if I can get a Z68 board then, but I don't know what the difference is (haven't heard of those before).

Yes, it's a big deal . It can get to point where that the drives are not recognized. Whenever Newegg and Microcenter pulls all 1155 boards, that's big. It's almost like a car recall, but without the safety issues. I'm not worried though, Intel will make good.

I love my i7-2600 processor and despite the board recall, I'd buy another 1155 board in the future, if I had too.

I mean they aren't going to blow up my rig or harddrives.

Scan.co.uk have said to just keep using your PCs as normal with it, as it apparently only happens under regular heavy load on the SATA II controller.
