Bing Copies Google Results?

I personally think this whole claim is bogus. If you look for anything hard enough, and you want to find it bad enough, eventually you'll start to see it even if it's not really there. Google desperately wants to throw dirt on Bing, so they engineered a special environment to force a certain result.

"Apple has pictures to represent programs on their computers. Now Microsoft has pictures to represent programs on their computers. MS must have copied Apple!" [/sarcasm] It's the same logic all over again.

...But Microsoft did copy Apple.

And I suppose GNOME, KDE, and every other platform that had/has icons and cursors copied Apple too?

Don't get me started on that. The Apple v. Microsoft case had like 189 charges filed, and Apple lost all but two. The court rightly decided that some innovations are just a matter of inevitability (the merger doctrine), and just because two entities come up with the same inevitable idea does not mean one stole from the other.

I don't understand why you would even suspect that MS copied KDE. KDE wasn't even started until 1996, one year after MS released Windows 95, which at that point already had the clear building blocks for today's Windows GUI. How could they copy something that didn't exist yet?

In this little "experiment" of Google's, they allege that Bing ended up with the same top result as Google in 7-9 cases out of 100. Think about it, everyone. If Bing was really copying Google (and I'm talking intentionally, here), then why were only 7-9 out of those 100 cases copied? It just doesn't add up. It's well known and accepted that the Bing toolbar collects usage data, I believe the Google toolbar does as well. It seems far more likely that the Bing toolbar picked up on the page visits themselves, rather than picking up on the use of Google specifically to get to them, especially given that Suggested Search was on in the browser.
