Does anyone know if one of these retailers accepts PayPal? I checked all of them and from what I can tell everyone wants a credit card, which I don't have. There were three or four that didn't have the pre-order on their sites yet...unless one of them accepts PayPal it looks like I'm out of luck.
    Amazon.com does.

What's the advantages of buying it instead of "downloading" it?

So if you buy the "upgrade" disc to get a good price, and have W7 build on, do you have to reinstall the preinstalled Vista image that came with the machine just to show it to the W7 install disc?

Just like Vista Ultimate and all the 'extras' I never used, I look forward to Seven Ultimate and all the 'extras' I'll never use :)
One thing MS decided to was take out some of the extra weight seen when piling extras into the OS when deciding what to do on 7! Since Vista overtook many by surprise of being much larger then XP they finally realized Windows was simply going to get bigger and too much with each newer version unless....? something like "7" came along!

The improved shadow copy feature for backup will be seen in the Ultimate being one thing to consider for the higher price however while not seeing all of the bloat of the progressively larger gui/core.

    Upgrade requirements ???

Does anybody know how the upgrade sequence will work ?

If I have a clean HD and have the original XP or Vista disks will I have to install XP or Vista prior to installing the upgrade

    OR

Will the upgrade disk just ask for a disk of the older operating system ?

    Thanks for your assistance

I imagine you would the exact same method used for a VIsta upgrade disk to see a full install of 7 since both are very close in methods there. Clean Install From Upgrade Vista - Vista Forums

The only options on their payment page are credit card, gift card, amazon.com card, and checking account.

It appears all those that have been trying Windows 7 RC get the special upgrade deal too. I received an email saying.

"You've been using Windows® 7 for a while now, and we hope you've been enjoying a simpler PC experience. Because you've been a loyal Windows customer, we're offering you the Windows 7 upgrade at a great introductory price* - only $49.99 for Home Premium or $99.99 for Professional. It's our way of saying thanks for trying it out. To take advantage of this deal, pre-order your copy while supplies last."
