Windows 7 preorders begin in the US, Canada, and Japan

Today residents in the US, Canada, and Japan have the opportunity to preorder Windows 7 upgrade versions of both Home Premium and Professional editions for significantly reduced prices. The deal lasts until July 11 in the US and Canada, and until July 5 in Japan. Microsoft emphasizes that this is all considering "while supplies last" but refused to reveal how many copies it was allowing to be sold at the reduced rates. In addition to the Microsoft Store, here's the list of retailers that are offering the preorder deal (online only): Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, Fry's Electronics, Office Depot, Office Max, Sam's Club, Staples, Tiger Direct, Wal-Mart, New Egg, and Nebraska Furniture Mart.

I see we get our mail from the same place!

Too bad that's only being seen on the Home Premium and Pro upgrade disks and not the full install editions! I'm rather dead set on the full version of Ultimate. "yes! yes! I want Ultimate!"

(Thanks for the offer MS but no thanks! I'll wait for a special on full version Ultimate!)

Does anyone know if one of these retailers accepts PayPal? I checked all of them and from what I can tell everyone wants a credit card, which I don't have. There were three or four that didn't have the pre-order on their sites yet...unless one of them accepts PayPal it looks like I'm out of luck.

Just like Vista Ultimate and all the 'extras' I never used, I look forward to Seven Ultimate and all the 'extras' I'll never use :)

Of course Ultimate is not offered...

Naturally they don't offer up Ultimate at half price for pre-order & that's the system I'm getting.
I've never ran anything less than PRO (XP) or Ultimate on my systems & I'm not going to compromise now.
So it looks like I'm going to have to pay for the Full Retail Upgrade at $219...but...

I wonder what prices the Egg will have on these for there loyal customers? More than likely they'll knock off about 10-20 bucks more so I expect to pay around $180 or so at Newegg...and of course that's with free shipping!

Question: What are the benifits to buying the Ultimate version Vs the Professional version?
