Full ISO is 1.9GB it seems. WU says the downloaded (for my computer) is between 76MB to 800MB in total. Either way that's more than 1GB off.

Well, I won't be installing it yet. Got to slip stream my Win 7 disc with it first and make an up to date system image backup too.

Does the download make any discernable difference in how your system works?

SP1 only contains bug fixes and it won't 'modify' anything about your system

Done. This didn't take long! Oh, in these times I remember Vista SP1, it took over an hour for that blessed update to install.

There's a new 'stage': Assembling Service Pack, and it takes some time. Dunno what it means though.

Couple of reliability updates, one failed (!), KB 2387530. I'll give it another go.

EDIT: my boot time seems a tad faster, only by a couple of seconds, but i have recently been timing things because of the recent SSD upgrade, its faster when the "starting windows" shows
