Not everybody will be installing SP1 right away. Some won't untill they can no longer get updates until they do. Some never will. For those users it wouldn't be "per se" obsolete. You're not thinking clearly. This update will never make it, it updates files to versions lower than SP1 versions, it has been rendered obsolete on the very same day they promoted it to feature in WU.
Just sayin' :)

Just took 17 minutes to download the 1.90GB ISO for me on a 15Mbit cable connection.
Actual install/reboot on 3 computers was 30-40 minutes.
Everything working as it should, nothing broken, startup is about 10-15 seconds slower, but reboots are same time as they were before SP1.

I didn't have to download anything (well...I had to download Win7, doh, lol )....I got my SP1 integrated on the 16th through TechNet :)
Haven't really noticed anything different so far....isn't it just one big collection of all the previously released updates though?
Seemed to take no more time than a normal group of Updates. No performance change noticed (yet).
Does anyone know how long it takes Win7 SP1 installation disks to start showing up in retail outlets? A few friends are waiting to buy, and I want to extract the ISO.
Edit: DL'ing ISO from Technet now.
