Also, from the drawings it looks like the pins for the Displayport and Thunderbolt connections are separate. This is where Fosket's "plus up to two DisplayPort v1.1a connections with 8.64 Gb/s each" comes from. This is supported by Intel statements (8:15) that you can use a passive DP PlusPLus to HDMI adapter and have the cable work otherwise IMO it would require a busmaster type device/active cable at the end point.
All of this should become pretty obvious over the next few days and weeks.

Dell monitors do have display port connector. The newest ones, at least, does.
