    Firefox Nightly 7

......I still have three addons (two important) not compatible with 5.x and another seven that are compatible with 5.x but not compatible with 6.x. Only 12 out of my 22 addons are compatible with 6.x.......

Install Add-on Compatibility Reporter 0.8.4 which works with version 7.0a1

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...lity-reporter/

Restart Nightly TWICE. The first restart installs the add-on and the second activates the rest of the add-ons. Once you have that installed if you are still having problems with certain add-ons try adding the Nightly Tester Tools which should install properly once this add-on is installed. See my post #69 on this forum for instructions and links.

Last time I used it it only told me after the fact that I had addons that aren't compatible. That is too late. You need to know before you install the update not after.

Yes you can start the install and find out that some addons are not compatible during the install but who wants to do that and possibly put all kinds of unwanted stuff on your computer as part of the install or cancelled install at that point of the install.

Until Firefox moves the Add On Compatibility Checker into the very beginning of the install before Firefox does anything else you can keep it.

I am down to just three 5.x incompatible addons from among the 22 I use. It takes all of a minute to go to the Firefox Addon website and check each of three.

The last thing that any knowledgeable user wants is to install an update and find out that they have what they consider critical addons that are not compatible with the new update.

As far as I am concerned Firefox Add-On Compatibility Reporter is junk. To prove the point I just installed it and it told me that all my Addons were compatible with my current version as if I didn't know that already.

    Just to Clarify

If you are testing Firefox Beta releases then the Add-On Compatibility Reporter is an excellent addon.

However, your installed Beta release could have incompatible addons which you consider critical. Therefore in order to test the Beta you either need a Virtual Machine or second computer that doesn't require the use of those critical addons. The other option would be to keep 4.x and install 5.0 Beta x. That would give you two versions of Firefox running on the same physical and logical computer. I have been there and done it. No thanks.
