He was joking(?). And yeah I guess, free speech. But those are insulting terms, whereas M$ is just a different abreviation. I could use AP for Apple or LX for linux. Its just that people don't know them.

Yea free speach and all, but M$ is just as insulting as crapple or linsux.

Then based upon that I wouldn't blame Microsoft if they closed their doors tomorrow....How can Microsoft remain competitive if they are held to certain standards if other companies are not? To me it would seem that other companies have the monopoly over Microsoft....They can go on as they please with little to no scrutiny while Microsoft has a magnifying glass pointed to them at all times. The reason we have fair competition is to keep prices fair and to have the quality of products at an acceptable level...not to have a lame duck company forced to put out software to certain company based norms while letting supposed "underdogs" walk on by without any notice. Just what kind of market is that?
the market which doesn't accept real or virtual monopolies, cartels and other consumer screwing.

As soon as the other companies have the same crucial importance in even the running of the national defense systems they'll be magnified glassed also.

As far as the government is concerned....it is their fault for running something that they neither mandated or created on their own systems and then scrambling to change when it goes haywire....there is no such thing as a robust software.

Is that supposed to be acceptable? I don't think we understand the situation as much as them because we don't run a large company like that but if I was running a company and it was expected to run at different standards than my competitors just because my product was used by more people...I was cease to run due to my inability to be fully competitive...no matter the example it is still puts Microsoft in such a unfair situation....and we continue to add fuel to the fire...and I don't want to sound like a MSFT fanboy as I would gladly stand up for Linux/Apple/etc. if the tables were turned.

EDIT: and just as wwoods remarked....there is no consumer screwing if there is a valid alternative and no one is forcing you to run that specific software.

    Hi all
Don't get fazed over ramblings from what some overpaid EU official says how you should use your computer.

There's no problem at INSTALL TIME to select a browser with the install options -- if MS was on the ball it could easily point 2 fingers to the whole of the EU.

My gripe is that why should WE who aen't members of the EU (Iceland is in the EEA) be saddled with the same legislation.

Amazon, Ebay, technet or even this version will solve the problem in any case.

    Cheers
