Well, I know a lot about computers and I work on them professionally and earn my living as a systems admin. When I built a new Computer in July of 2009, I waited for Windows 7 as the OS for that computer as it needed a Windows based OS installed on it.

But, I have my wife's laptop which is an HP and it came with Vista Home Premium. It has worked perfectly well since the day we got it, and honestly, I don't feel compelled in any way to shell out more than $100 to have it also running Windows 7. Of course, I'm not bothered in any way with IE10 not being usable, as I haven't used IE in years.

Vista came out of the gate poor. Mfgs weren't there with drivers and such and this OS got a bad reputation right out of the gate. But in all honestly, after a bit of time, new installs of the OS were fine as mfg's got driver support out there, etc. Unfortunately, by this time, the tech pundits were slamming it and nobody wanted to give it a chance to do anything.

I'm not saying that I don't prefer Windows 7 to Vista. But on those machines which came with Vista, which run perfectly fine, I'm not inclined whatsoever to shell out more money to get them on Windows 7. I simply don't see the point, or the need.

OK back to the topic ....

I don't blame MS for cutting the cord ... they have to do it in order to let Their embarassing vista RIP ... It's time to move on ...

(BTW ... for those who embraced the failed - suck vista .. should not complain ...because you should be used to it by now ... )
MS isn't cutting the cord on Vista. It will continue to have mainstream support until next year, and extended support until 2017. I fail to see how Microsoft is cutting the cord on Vista just because a browser that may not be ready until Windows 8 hits RTM won't be supported on it.

I have absolutely no idea

This thread has taken a surreal turn - sorry Joan.

Still, it adds a touch of much needed levity as Noel Coward would say ( Hay Fever )
