    Why is it dumb?
The people that make the OS cant provide a free web browser that is an integral part of the core operating system because other web browser manufactures cry to the EU due to lack of market share.

Then you get it in a Windows Update ... if thats not dumb i don't know what is . Actually being told to promote or " offer" your competitors product in your own product is scandalous. OK Microsoft have the monopoly on PC's. Who's fault is that ?

Lets not forget if it wasn't for Microsoft's OS most of these companies wouldn't even be in business , Either that or fighting for *nix supremacy.

When i spend my hard earned cash i want to get what im paying for. You get enough bloatware when you buy OEM as it is.

Hey Swarfega, if you like IE, you can move into the house across the street from me. That way once you buy 7, you get IE!

/This offer is available to anyone who wants to move to Texas and can afford a... *runs outside, across the street, and picks up a pamplet*... $850,000 (USD). Holy crap!
lol, I do wonder about the "techies" at EU HQ sometimes.

Im just glad us sad and miserable Brits have someone like you lot to do our thinking for us. I hadnt realised i was miserable until you told me i was.
I did not say your life was miserable...I merely meant that the EU's ruiling makes things very inconvenient for anyone wanting to use Windows 7 out of the box . The reason that this is dumb is because your parliament has decided to to go to war against Microsoft to further its own agenda...why haven't they challenged Apple or linux distros or any other software maker for their bundled apps?

PS I will change my original post to not say miserable...it seems to have been taken out of context

Ouch! That hurt my feeling! (I only have one left... :))

I apologize for not being more concise....

One of the things I have liked about this forum is the absence of unrelated US political issues, i.e. not related to technology or its implementation and availabilty.

If Congress were attempting to tax internet access/usage (which has been discussed), restrict DVD copy technology (DRM anyone?) or some other technology issue, then I say...

    Let 'er rip!
(There are a gazillion political venues for people so inclined...)
