How much have Microsoft earned from Windows 7 in total?
Read more hereIt is hard to believe but Windows 7 has been on the market for 18 months. During that time, the platform has experienced tremendous growth and adoption by users all over the world; including business environments.
Announced today on the Windowsteamblog is that Windows 7 has sold more than 350 million licenses to date. Also mentioned is that analyst firms like IDC have estimated that 90% of business are either drafting or have already started implementing Windows 7 and in most cases this is to replace Windows XP. And by deploying Windows 7, companies are saving, on average, $140 per PC per year. This generates a return on investment of 131% over a 12 month period.
Hi there
great stuff but don't get carried away -- MS needs to generate FUTURE revenue stream once W7 and Office 2010 matures.
I wouldn't invest too much money in MS stock just yet -- it's going along quite nicely currently but you need to watch FUTURE growth prospects.
Trend is definitely a bit "Bearish" - see attached chart.
Cheers

it says 350million sold but how many copies are being used? (paid for and pirated)
Interesting that Windows 7 use has surpassed XP use. I've changed my mind about Windows 7. I actually like it more now than XP.
Windows XP had a 10 year run ... pretty impressive. I think Windows 7 will be like this also. I can't see myself migrating to Windows 8 in only 2013.
if there arent any major changes like the change from XP to Vista then i don't see the point of upgrading to W8 the only noticeable difference is the folders UI and task manager (and i prefer the 7 version)
