I understand, I used to be the same way. Then when I had kids, it was less easy to sit around using my computer (which is in the basement). The sheer simplicity of the consoles became appealing. Being able to easily play in the living room and be aware of what the kids were doing won out.

And I work with computers for a living and have for nearly 15 years. I honestly am reaching the point where I don't want to come home from work and continue tinkering with them all night and all weekend. It's nice to just plop in the new game, quickly let it install it's bits to the hard drive, grab a controller and be on my way. And with all patches for the console/game coming from the online server..you don't have to put any effort into keeping up to date.

I still love the PC for gaming. Mostly because of the great community, and the many things that stands for. Mods, higher quality multiplayer (my opinion of course), a more mature crowd, etc etc.

The one thing I like about consoles I get on with my PC, but I realize not everyone can afford PC Gaming. I use a wireless 360 controller and my HDTV and couch just the same as a console gamer would, but only for certain games. Certainly not FSX, or ArmaII, for example; these two games I should mention are a big part of why I may never be able to switch to consoles, my love for Simulators.

FSX, ArmaII, LiveForSpeed, etc etc.

However, I do like everything Nintendo and intend to grab one for my sons, they're too young, so Cafe will probably be out about the time I'm ready to allow them to play. Great for them, because of the type of games, and also great for me, because I absolutely love the creativity from Nintendo, and all of the classic stuff.

So while I do most of my gaming at my desk, I do occassionally play something like a Dirt 2 or whatever, on the HDTV and chilax

We have all 3 of the current gen consoles, and I HATE the Wii. One of the worst purchases of my life. We never use it, even my 6 and 3 year old don't like it and instead opt for the PS3 or 360.

As for AMD being the "gamer's choice".....

Steam Hardware & Software Survey - Note that Intel's pecentage in the gaming community (Steam users) is 72.3 percent compared to AMD's 27.6 percent.

Steam conducts a monthly survey to collect data about what kinds of computer hardware and software our customers are using. Participation in the survey is optional, and anonymous. The information gathered is incredibly helpful to us as we make decisions about what kinds of technology investments to make and products to offer.
This survey is as of April 2011

Not here to take sides, just providing some tangable data.

Later.

This is based on Intel being a better marketed product ,I run AMD hardware and really don't see much of a difference from intel in speed wise and pricing is unatractive as well Also when i owend a p4 it suffered from heat issues no matter how i cleaned it etc.

I am now useing the same exact case as my old p4 build and i have never had issues with heat .

I play alot of games online and most of the time i noticed in gaming is more network speed then hardware but then again decent hardware helps ........just saying

I didn't say there was a difference, I'm was showing the market share.

BTW I've never used an AMD processor so I can't and won't speak of their performance or quality. I just know that the large market share of processors belong to Intel.

As to who's better.....

Anyways I say just get what you like and be happy

Agreed ...I know though Intel will always be Dominant Based on Rep + History of where it Originated ....

Intel's antitrust practices may have helped. Or not, but I guess that's not news to anyone here... Heh, that doesn't require any response.

As for the Wii, it's good for the price, if that type of system is what you're looking for. We don't all care for the same things, gimmick for you, source of classic, nostalgic gameplay for another. Edit here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintend...28Worldwide.29

So.. yeah. I grew up playing these games, but also the other systems do not offer suitable gaming for children.

Read it or don't comment on antitrust directly, please know what I mean by that!

If Bulldozer works out, Ill certain move over to AMD .. especially if the price is right.

Since I do a lot of HD video encoding, I usually go for which ever offers the most performance, within a reasonable budget.

As of late, Intel has always been faster clock for clock. And many times the AMD needs to run 400-600 Mhz faster just to match its work with some really CPU intensive tasks.
When you are running a heavy CPU app for long hours, this makes a huge difference in the long run.

Although for everyday tasks, and most gaming (Some CPU intensive RTS games aside) they both perform about the same.

Of course this is all up to change, and I hope it does.

I used AMDs for a while, and eventually moved to Intel.
Although once on top, I don't think theres any doubt AMD has behind in the game the last few years.

We need good competition. Its good for both AMD and Intel, and even more so for we the consumer.
