    @john3347,

Thanks for that it's always a good thing to have paper, (offline), copies of this type of thing

    Also

With regards to the UBitmenu add-on I have managed to check things out a little bit more.

It installs as a document template in the user start-up folder, so I would assume it can be setup to show or not depending on user,
it adds an extra "Menu" tab to the ribbon which seems to cover the missing 2003 menu structure.

It is controllable from the addons area from the office options button so may be switched on and off as required.

It comes with an uninstaller but to remove it's simly a matter of deleting the dotx template file

there's a new survey out for MS Office 2010; it's the MS Office 2010 Study; here's some details:

    Microsoft Office 2010 Study Invitation

The Microsoft Office Design Group is inviting you to participate in a unique field study using Office 2010 Technical Preview. Getting feedback from customers like you using Office 2010 in your work is very important to us. Your feedback will be vital in helping us make a better product and this is an opportunity for you to have an impact.

    Details

What? The study involves you using Office 2010 Technical Preview to do your work as you normally do and give us your feedback about it.

When? The study will occur for a period of 1-2 months. The study can begin once you receive access to Office 2010 Technical Preview. After beginning the study, we will collect feedback from you for 1-2 months as you use Office 2010 Technical Preview.

Where? At the comfort of your workplace. We will come to you.
We will conduct an initial visit of about 2 hours with you at your workplace to get an understanding of how you use Office today to accomplish your work. During this initial visit, we will also introduce you to some new features in Office 2010 that you might find particularly useful. You would not need to do anything to prepare for this visit.
After the initial visit, we will check-in with you weekly to bi-weekly during the 1-2 month time period for 30 minutes to 1 hour either by phone or video-conference to listen to your feedback from using Office 2010 Technical Preview, e.g., what you like and dislike.

    Interesting Offer,

I think it's a US only based offer at the moment I just checked my connect account and the are no additional surveys available - just a link to my completed form when I was accepted - could of course be because I'm in the program that I don't see it

What version of the technical preview did you end up getting? I'm trying to determine if there is a newer one or not.

I did get accepted and have downloaded and installed O2010. The version I got was 4006.1000.

    Cheers!

Finding Items on the Technical Ribbon

    garysgold said:
    Hi Guys,

I still am having a hard time finding stuff on the ribbons. Office 2000 was the last one I used and I had all the things I used most right in front of me all the time. I can see why they have all the stuff in there for people to use, but I want to organize it my way. 2007 has a bar for that, but it is small and limited. I've stopped using Word for letters and am now using Corel Draw (Wordperfect is embedded) for letters. I'll switch back if I can arrange things as I want.

Gary - I have been previewing Office 2010 for about two weeks. After I used the Technical ribbon 3 or 4 Times I couldn't readily find items either.... even though using it causes me to remember where things are. For example in Office 2003 Insert-Page Break or Section Break was a menu item. In 2010 when a person goes to view/Page Break section Break isn't there, but if the user right clicks on that tab a menu - pops up and section break is an option. God's Speed - Patrick C

This ribbon aversion is baffling, especially because you're not at its total mercy any more. You can hide it or customize it. If you want Page Break - or any other command - you can make your own ribbon tabs, choose your own name for a tab, make your own groups, and put any command you want in the order you want.

This solves nothing. I don't want the ribbon, I want the original Menu bar.

The ribbon is stupid, and makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER to me (for instance, word count was in tools, now it is in review? wth?). I want my file, menu, edit, tools, etc. back.

that is already in office 2003, please stick to that one. Please do not mess office 2003 with office 2010.
