There is a configuration in auto:config that shows auto update. Won't changing this to false stop them from automatically updating?

Don't care too much. I'm using 4.0.1 and I am happy with it and I will always update when a new version is out. Like that, it's quicker, safer and like that, my browsing is safer.
Also it is so easy to control. My FF 4 is set to check for updates and then ask me what I want to do.Later, Legnitto said his choice of the word "force" was ill-advised, and noted that only Firefox 3.5 users who had left the default automatic updates setting enabled would be moved to Firefox 3.6 automatically.
So easy and I have full control.

Last time I checked updates for programs were good so I dont see anything wrong with this.
Honestly, if 3.5 users are being moved to 3.6, I doubt they will even be able to tell the difference. 3.5 and 3.6 are pretyt much identical, on the surface at least. I am personally considering going back to 3.6 myself, I'm not 4.0's biggest fan.
I have no issue with this. FF4 works great.
I am seriously sick of people bitching about not wanting to upgrade because the new version is so slow or bloated. If you think it has issues, download (either in a VM or side install) the new version and test it yourself. You don't like it, at least you actually know why, but you might like it.
I you have a problem with auto-updates, get a different browser (like Internet Explorer).

FF 4 and chrome are both horrible, horrible. Chrome has memory leaks and FF4 persona's is crap just as someone mentioned fancy tool bar, no one creates any half decent themes. I'm sticking with 3.6 until either one of them get their act together, it's a disgrace.
FF4, won't even run right on my machine. If they force me to upadte to 4, Ill be uninstalling.
