Why are some people content to stick with the past? If we all did that we'd still be on Windows 3.1 and Windows 7 would never exist.

You get the same thing with the number of people clinging to XP. They are comfortable with it and don't want to move out of their comfort zone. The problem is that we all have to change at some time and the further you are behind the bigger the change.
After all, FF4 isn't all that bad!
I had a horrific issue with the version before 4. I cannot say off the top of my head which version that actually was unfortunately. The issue was that when I would have more than one tab open and I began scrolling on one of them tabs, for some annoying and unusual reason the tab I was scrolling on would jump into a new window.
I chose to upgrade to FF4, hoping that it would solve this issue, but to no surprise, nothing has changed.
On a brighter note though, I am very pleased with the new menu button at the top and the tabs at the top.
Have you created a brand new profile?
I had some problems caused by left over garbage in my old profile.
I created a new profile and copied over the files that I wanted and it fixed the problem.
Strangely I didn't have any problems with the betas.
I intensely dislike the new default UI.
"One button to rule them all." - Bah!
Worse, one of my favourite add-ons was updated for the new version and it lost the functionality that I originally installed it for.
Luckily I was able to retrieve a previous version from my backups and after altering its version number I was able to set FF4 up to suit my tastes.
Upgrade. Kill old versions of software and hardware. Above all, kill XP.
It's simple to me. Who ever owns the computer should make the choice. If a company wants to make their browser more secure then by all means go for it. Changing where all the little buttons and toots and whistles are located is not a upgrade to me. It's nothing but window dressing B/S. I tried FF4 and it lost all my settings and I didn't care to hunt and peck for 2 weeks trying to get it like I wanted it. Just because a program is free doesn't give the company the right to make my choices for me.
I've upgraded about a dozen systems to FF 4 on Win 2000, 2003, XP and 7 without any issues. Ubuntu 11.04 comes with FF 4 installed and works fine there as well.
I've seen complaints on various forums saying that FF 4 lost all Bookmarks and such, I've not lost a single Bookmark.
this is good news for all those that are on 3.6.? and up. out dated browsers are one of the biggest security risk anyone can have. there is really no reason to be using 3.5 or below any more. all addons work with 3.6, and most now work great with 4.0.1. i'm not a fan of auto updates as i have everything set to be manually updated by me, but i would not cry fowl if i had an update forced on me because i'm putting other internet users at risk.
as for the themes they work just fine with 4.0.1, so do the persona's. as for there being no great themes for ff try blue fox, bloodfire, toons, and many, many more.
i'm sure there is a configuration file in about:config that can be modified to keep firefox from auto updating.
