Don't forget though that in the UK it doesn't have a browser included so you need to download one before hand.

Its not just the uk but the whole of EU that doesnt include IE.

Current status of retailers offering pre-order offer

The list is starting to run a bit thin - no way is this offer going to run through until August 9th.

Of the remaining retailers on the Microsoft Windows 7 Pre-Order Offer page, I have just checked their websites and the results are as follows:

Comet: Have reverted to £79.99 / £189.99 pricing. Offer pricing gone.
Currys: Sold out of Home Premium offers. Still selling Pro at £89.99.
PC World: Still selling Home Premium at £44.99 / Pro at £89.99
Staples: Still selling both at offer prices, but beware quoted prices are ex-VAT.
Tesco Direct: Still selling Home Premium at £44.97 & Pro at £89.97.

All other retailers that were originally part of the promotion (e.g. Amazon)seem to have disappeared from the Microsoft page. As we all know, Amazon increased their prices to the £79 mark at a very early stage.

To be honest i think that is the best way of packaging the product. keeps everyone happy then. Mind you was just thinking about all the money I could of made from all the people installing windows 7 then realising they didn't actually have a browser to find a download page to download a browser. lol

Shame Play.com not the cheapest to pre-order though. lol

Yes, you are quite right. Gone from Tescos too now even though it is still showing on the page that is linked to from the Microsoft site.

I ordered from Tescos yesterday and my order was accepted so looks like I was rather fortunate! Even more so because I was out of the country without internet access until yesterday, and was worried that this rush would happen and I wouldn't be able to get the promo pricing.

So, we are down to Currys / PC World (Both the same company in reality) and Staples.

This offer isn't going to go past tomorrow at this rate. If you haven't ordered yet, do it now!

    Yes I second that one.

Has anyone noticed that laptop manufacturers like Acer, Dell, etc. are mostly selling stock now off the shelves with only Vista home basic on? The units with Home Premium on have actually gone up in price. There are also fewer models that come with Premium on.
Clearly trying to keep the upgrade costs down.

I noticed this tonight really while looking for a new laptop for my daughter. I looked at an Acer machine from PC World that was the same as mine that I had purchased in march of this year. It was purchased as a recon from them as the model is not a current store purchase. I liked it because of the blue-Ray and 17" along with a few other good points. This machine was originally £699 but I got it for £299. They are doing the offer again now on there website but the price is £389.99.
There are a few other models that seem to have crept up about £90 too.

Now this is not good and deffinately not advertised. is this fair on shoppers?

    I don't think so!

It looks like all the Windows 7 Home Premium less than £50 offers have now sold out, even at PC World. Still some Professional Premium offers at the pre-issue prices though.

Indeed - the £49 Home Premium offer has run out everywhere. They are all now at £79.

As you say, there are still a few £89 Professional editions out there however, which is why the Microsoft page is still touting the offer.

Yup seams they have all sold out but remember the £75 most sites offer will still be cheaper than final price when Windows 7 Home Premium is released in October.
