Yes I noticed that Tesco no longer had the offer, I ordered mine from there on Monday and it's accepted, in fact they've taken the money out my account so I know I wont have to pay anymore than the offer price.
And according to the site if you do a tracking lookup it's in the Warehouse awaiting dispatch and the supplier will email when it is ready

Mind you I've got all the print offs as proof

Hello Joan, I am surprised Tesco have already taken your money, most of the retailers selling the Windows 7 offer appear to be waiting until the software is shipped before taking money. :)

I see that PCWorld and Tesco have now run out of the cheap offer of the Pro version. I think that if they have run out there will not now be many retailers that still have it.

Yes - Tescos took my money too.

However, I was wondering if they did this because my current card expires before the October release date (so they have taken the money now because the payment would have failed if they claimed it in October).

This is what PC World have on their site, and most others operate the same policy. PC World will only charge your card on despatch of the item. I am not sure if this would apply if payment was made by Debit Card though, or as said previously, if a Credit Card expired before the date of dispatch.

Actually I have just checked Tesco's Terms and Conditions and it looks like they don't charge till dispatch, this is what the T&Cs say -

Please ensure that the expiry date of your payment card is after the anticipated despatch date of your order. Payment is taken at the point of despatch for goods and in the event that the payment card has expired we will be unable to take payment and fulfil your order.

Mine is a Debit Card, I don't have any Credit Cards and I deal with Tesco every week for my grocery shopping plus I've had things through Tesco Direct before and never had problems.

This is my order as well but they're only doing it for £79.99 now

on another note they already charged my debit card, dunno if ordering by credit card makes a difference. have there been any others users who paid by debit card that didn't get charged already?

Hi matt0978, I have just checked with Comet, they told me that they charge at time of purchase to reduce admin costs.

    Copy of reply from Comet:-

Advisor: We take payment at time of sale.
Advisor: this is to speed up delivery when we get stock in as admin is reduced.
