I'm glad that we have withdrawn as well. I can't stand to be part of a contest that can be so easily manipulated as this. To bad.

Thank you admins for withdrawing...it has been too much of a headache to remain competitive in that contest further...

I totally agree. As much as we all wanted to win (for the sake of the forum) there should have been a better, more secure poll contest.

Any way we could close this thread and be done with it? John you closed the other one so there is no reason for this one to stay also...its best to remove the tracks of that silly contest from this website

Its funny that whoever started this poll wouldn't have checked the obvious, especially considering most of the people are technical. It would have been a different story if it were a vote on best Gardening Website (no offense).

I have free software on my web server that you can easily set the threshold of how often people can vote and/or restrict by IP. I could easily hold a secure poll, and I am just one person.

@kepox. There weren't instructions on how to manipulate the data, I was pointing out the flaws and how others who don't even receive a 100th of the traffic this site site does, were probably swaying the votes.

ps I'm not a mod either.

Very wise and mature decision that you've made John in withdrawing from the contest.
I think it safe to say this site is known for it's integrity as well as good information and help, that makes it number one in anyones book and we don't need a flawed contest to get that message across.
