    Windows Live to replace built-in Windows applications in 7

    Some Windows Live applications have overlapped applications found in Windows XP and Windows Vista, and Microsoft's approach to this has been to let users have two similar applications installed side-by-side. Given that Windows Live applications are constantly being improved, especially with the recent push of Wave 3 and the upcoming release of Windows 7, Microsoft will be changing its stance. We've already heard whispers that Windows 7 will have some desktop applications stripped away in order to get users to download and install their Windows Live counterparts, but now official confirmation has arrived.

    Right Ted, Some of the new wave programs on Windows Live are Windows Live Movie Maker, Windows Live Photo Gallery and Windows Live Mail as well as blogging tool Windows Live Writer and instant messaging program Windows Live Messenger. (extracted from a link in your post)

    Since some of us are already using the Live features (mail, messenger, etc) it won't be much of a shock when we use them with 7.
