Windows 7: AMD taking microprocessor market share from Intel

No mention of Fusion at all in this thread, which is what this is all about.

For those without bias, standing on even ground, it's easy to see why AMD is doing well here. Their solution is a perfect match in our present economic climate.

Bulldozer is far behind, and this may come back to bite them with IB coming, however Bulldozer for Opteron ships Sept. 26, with desktop Zambezi FX shipping Sept-Oct 2011.

If these chips perform as well as they 'should', we're going to have great competition, and people will stop calling AMD the 'budget' Cpu company, which they're certainly not.

It's not as if their Cpu's are made from some cheap material, they're just as advanced in most regards. The trouble was the original Phenom, they lost two years because they failed on the first try, Phenom II should have been Phenom original.

I get frustrated listening to people (nobody here) refer to bulldozer in such a way as they expect it to be an incremental update to their present line, all the while this is a 100% brand new architecture 6 years in the making. It's incredibly ignorant to make 'any' assumptions at all of any kind about Bulldozer, because there is not a single reference in existence to refer to for input.

This will come down to physical cores versus ops per cycle.

My last build is an AMD 6 core CPU. I wanted to build a i7 Intel machine but the cost for me was just out of range.
I like the AMD and it is great for my needs.

The price of a Intel chip without AMD would be huge and vis-a-versa the price of a AMD chip without Intel would be large.

Competition is good so buy what you like. Just be happy there is two major CPU manufactures.
