Yeah, I've never really been aware of those Asian countries having ties to technology before....

At least Dell didn't outsource to India for something. :)

    HP: U.S.
    Toshiba: Japan
    Lenovo: China
    Asus: Taiwan
    Acer: Taiwan
    Dell: U.S.

Where have some of you been living in the last 25 years?

Dell computer parts are made in China and assemble in US as does most computer.

80% of the computer and electronic are made in China.

I m surprise on some of the posts.

cant we do anything here? why can't we copy dvd's here aint that hard. I was doing some plumbing in my house and all the copper was stamped made in Korea. Why cant we do this here. We build foreign cars here why not foreign computers like dell, gateway,hp.acer etc. sure the hqters may be here but all ther computers are made in se asia. Does that mean we are incapable of doing it for less. Damn'it machines do it. they dont charge more or less no matter wher they r. Sure people box them and r used for quality control but we can compete too
I say we get our componets from the usa whenever possable build our own or ask ur bud and if enough of us build our own computers maybe just maybe the word will get out......Lets start a movement USA FOREVER ( i hope)

    That's capitalism.
You invest for cheap labor that costs you a dime, parts that cost a cent, then you sent it all to the US and hire unions to make you "look good". That ends up in huge profits over cost to make/assamble.
Taking advantage of the poor and exploiting poor countries to make the rich even richer while avoiding paying huge taxes

Dell PCs are assembled in the USA. I am not sure about the boxed units sold at BB etc, but web orders are JIT built to order.

I believe the same holds true for some of the other big name brands.

Unfortunately, there is a big difference in $20/Hour and $20-50/Week (China).

P.S. Find many "Made In USA" product tags in Walmart lately anyone?
