If you don't read what the media write, and you do not have a problem with Firefox where is the problem?? lol works fine for me
7 pages made irrelevant.
actually thought it was a good idea with version number becoming more and more irrelevant.
Still going to be doing silent updates though...
Seems to be the wave of the future and is all find and dandy in theory. But that more or less assumes that you will never push any bugs or incompatibility ever again. It's bad enough in the normal release modes but you can generally then just go back a version and install that. But increasingly that's not even possible any more (I.e. on Android).
There's nothing worse than turning your computer on and firing up your browser to get some work done (ebay seller maybe?) then have your software autobreak itself just before needing to use it.
Updates should be manual so you can do them after your done working IF you are in the mood for dealing with the potential consequences...
There probably will be... at first. Course 99% of all users won't know about it.
On Android, the option for auto-updating is getting more forceful. Some apps update then auto update themselves from then on (Double Twist) and now for others the "Are you sure you don't want to turn on auto updating" is suddenly compeltely in your face in the new app store. Next rev?... Well it's clear where it's heading :)
