this answers why I can go from vista partition C into win7 partition E and copy files but boot into windows7 I cannot see the Vista partition and the win7 partition is now C:...yes?
so I have to rename the Vista C: to? and where would I do that, while booted into Vista?
When in Vista if I right click C: there is a "change drive letter and paths" dialog, so is that where I would give Vista C: a new name like G: (picking a letter not already in use anywhere)?
perhaps its all academic but I would like to go back and forth to file copy/paste between systems.

These are the correct steps, but you need to do them while you are in Win 7. So that you can see the vista partition in seven. You can already see both in Vista according to your post. If you look in disk manager in W7 you will see that it has no drive letter which is why you cannot see it in explorer.

Translation of the underlined: "Google Maps had the addresses for ComputerWorld and InfoWorld switched. We extend our sincere apologies to our astute readership he managed to slip past security long enough to make the above contribution. Please be advised we gave him a peanut butter sandwich and a taxi ride to Randall Kennedy's place, where we are assured he will receive proper attention, crate training, and walks at least twice a day..."

Love it.
