don't worry Petrossa,

I'm not pissed of at you.

You are entitled to your own opinion. I respect that.
I proves you're not a parrot. (among other things. lol) (joke)

I just can't stand double standards and EU is full of them.

I live in the EU and for me EU stands for European USSR.

It's becoming more and more a soviet kind of system.

In Brussels they had a 3 week meeting about how many strawberries should go into a jar to be allowed to call it jam.
Regardless of culture, regardless of preferable taste of each country.

I hate it.

Sorry for ranting. I'll shut up now.

I was wondering what this might mean for those who are waiting for full 'E' versions of Windows 7 ordered under the pre-issue offer. However it looks like they will still get full versions according to CNET -

"Those who pre-ordered Windows 7 "E" through a recent discount offer will get the full version, as Microsoft had promised. However, Microsoft plans to now sell Windows 7 upgrades in Europe and also offer a higher-priced full version (for those without an earlier copy of Windows)--similar to what it is doing in the rest of the world".

Got to admit the new plan would make a lot more sense.

If they just ship without a browser, they'd have to do the whole plan with charging people to ship IE on disc if they request, or else consumers would have to go track down something on their own. Massive pain and waste.

If they readily just add a screen to Windows 7 as-is, it more easily lets people download another browser if they want. And IE remains removable for those who want.

And if the EU has a fit with it, well, they're stuck farther back than the once upon a time days when the browser battle of IE and Netscape actually seemed to mean something... primarily due to ad revenue from the default browser screen.

I envy you.

I'm not saying there are no upsides to EU, only too few to mention.

I'm sure at the Eu committee they still have a hangover from the champagne they uncorcked when MS finally agreed to the ballot screen the EU wanted.
But now they want the full monty, so they don't sign off till the other outstanding issues have been adressed. ( interoperability, office suite)

i already wrote in to the UK Microsoft Store asking about this when things were looking bad for the E version. they assured me that i would still get a full version for the price i paid for.

yay for the early birds!
