Gah...at least the prices have come down, slightly. My person cannot wait for new hard drives!

I've read recently that Hitachi is working on a FOUR terabyte internal single hard drive soon this year.....I'm going to pounce on that like it's hot when that comes out!

Looks like the "discount" is moving them. If I can believe my online store entry for WD 1 tb drives, they had about 2300 on hand a few days ago. Now they're down to 800 sumpthin'. :)

Well, I don't know. I'd no more buy a used HDD off Ebay than I would used toilet paper.

Its kind of a gamble, you either get a really great deal or you get ripped off.

I'd agree. The used toilet paper must be an absolute bargain.

There are a lot of refurb's on ebay with fake labels, any promised or implied warranty isn't worth the HTML it's hosted as... in fact as regards many things sold on there, they're fakes full stop!

yeah what happened to the good ole days of ebay when you could buy a half eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwich for 1.4 million dollars.

I wasn't going to read back through 249 other posts so this may have been mentioned
    already, but a shortage?

Pretty sure that Australia is the main exporter to China in relation to core materials
(we were for a long while if not still) and I do believe that our mining industry is booming.
I don't think I'm quite as worried about the lack of hard drives as to where Australia's
abundant supply of Uranium is being sent.

If I do start to get worried about storage space I might hit the local Dick Smith Electronics
store and buy 2 10TB NAS devices, one to use and one for parts should the one I'm using blow a gasket.
