I wasn't going to read back through 249 other posts so this may have been mentioned
    already, but a shortage?

Pretty sure that Australia is the main exporter to China in relation to core materials
(we were for a long while if not still) and I do believe that our mining industry is booming.
I don't think I'm quite as worried about the lack of hard drives as to where Australia's
abundant supply of Uranium is being sent.

If I do start to get worried about storage space I might hit the local Dick Smith Electronics
store and buy 2 10TB NAS devices, one to use and one for parts should the one I'm using blow a gasket.
It might have benefited you to at least read the first two or three posts to know the reason. ...because that has nothing to do with it.

I did read the first 2 or 3 posts I said I didn't read them all.
Another crusader of the serious side of life to I see.

Maybe I'll come up with a more intelligent post next time, maybe
about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or something like that.

PB & J. Hated it when I was a kid; hate them now.

Got me some nice investments in the Aussie mining industry, though. Where's Spinifex when you need him?

    Hmm............
I've visited many times, lived and worked in the US. Jelly=Jam, Autumn=Fall....So what.
Dick Smith Electronics is owned by the Woolworths chain. They sell external HDDs whose price reflects the massive increase in global HDD prices. They do have the odd special.

Internal HDDs sold by the lowest cost providers in Australia reflect the global trend.
The high price of HDDs concerns people a little including me. Hence the Bleat.

Last 1TB Seagate (? 6months ago) I paid AUD$55. The cheapest price that I can find locally now is AUD$99.
    AUD$1 = US$1.03

It may be both manufacturer and retailer keeping prices high.
Hum MJF where was that mate my usual supplier PCCG is still over the ton at $109 + shipping?
