Avast is running fine here to on the 64-bit Windows 7 Beta. :)
I am running Kaspersky. I originally had a problem with my email but that has since been fixed.
Avast is the way to go!
Hey Guys
One thing to remember, even tho a program like this may "install" and "appear" to work properly...it may not be. If the AV is not designed for this Win7 build, a Vista compatible scanner may install properly, due to 7's structure being similar to Vista's, but some aspects of 7's kernel or operational differences, may cause the engine to not do all the necessary tasks properly.
I can't say for sure that this is FACT without thorough testing (which I don't have the energy to do yet), but my previous experiences in AV & Security product testing (which is fairly extensive), proves that to be the case in many previous instances such as this.
That's a TOTALLY precautionary note y'all, they may be functioning just fine after all, but usually that's not the case. Some tweaks are usually needed for a product like this to be able to work across a new platform build like 7 is.
I just d'loaded my 7 copy and WDK, SDK...so on, and have yet to install it. Had a hell of a time with FTM, it installed but would not launch when the .dlm file was opened. Finally after a couple hours of fartin around I got it working, so I'll install it on a testbed tomorrow.
Just another heads-up, there is an important Update for 7 that fixes a metadata issue in WMP and WMC that can cause permanent loss of large starting sections of MP3 files when editing tag data.
Oh, one more thing. For those who are trying Nod32 or ESS...are you using V3 or the new Beta V4 (for beta testers)? I'd be interested to know which if you read this.
Thanx guys
Dave
