If you extract the contents of your Pro .iso - you can remove the ei.cfg file. Then remake the bootable .iso.

That should allow you to install any edititon.

If you have the paid version of PowerIso ( well worth it imo).

    http://www.poweriso.com/

You can simply open the 7 Pro .iso with that, delete ei.cfg /replace it with an edited version, and Save it as a new all edition .iso.

Alternatively, you could edit the ei.cfg to specify the Edition you want to install.

ei.cfg file is inside the “sources” folder of the DVD and looks like this:

    [EditionID]
    Professional
    [Channel]
    Retail
    [VL]
    0

Without the ei.cfg file, you should get a screen asking which Edition to install.

Does this method allow switching from a 32 bit install to a 64 bit install?

No. 32-bit and 64-bit are distributed on separate DVDs.

Los Angeles is booked solid. Figures.

So it's off to San Diego I go.
Leaving to San Diego event in about 2 hours! Should be a good one!

I will take pictures and post a review of the event later this week.

Is anyone else here going to the San Diego event?

    Hi Gang!

Went to The New Efficiency Launch Event at Falls Church, VA yesterday.....

    Had a great time there!

Drove up on Tuesday evening, and stayed overnite at a friends apartment (free dinner too - home cooked - YUM!)....

Got up early and headed over to the event about 12 miles away.... stopped at Panera Bread and ate breakfast there and then proceeded to the event at the AMC Theatre at Falls Church - that was a HECK of a place to find! The Theatre is on the 4th floor and the AMC logo is hard to find when you are looking for a Theatre that is on the OUTSIDE... not INSIDE the mall!!! Oh well...

Parked, went in and got my Snack Pack - Fruit and Drink and waited for it to start. The bag given out had lots of trial software (Windows 2008 - R2 and Forefront and the Microsoft System Center... also the Springboard Readiness Software... lots of printed info and a nice Black Microsoft T-Shirt.

Went to the IT Pro lectures and the speakers were very good. Just from the presentations, Windows 7 integrated with Server 2008 R2 will be fantastic!!

After the lectures, went out to get in line for the FREEBIE.... Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit with the Key!! And from what I've read, the key should work on 64 bit also.... so I need to get a 64 bit version for my PC... hmmmm... where to get that from ???

    ps....

If you wanted the 64-bit version, you could trade in your 32-bit for it..... YOU HAD TO TURN IT BACK IN (YOUR 32-BIT VERSION) - Fill out a request form for the 64-bit version - keep the bottom part as your receipt and turn the top part of the form ALONG with your 32-bit version (AND KEY!) back to the Microsoft people there at the main table! I said "NO THANKS!" - kept my 32-bit Windows 7 and KEY, and will go find a 64-bit version to use!

I was also "at" the event in Tyson's Corner (Falls Church) yesterday. My beautiful wife and I registered in the morning. Went home. Went back at the end of the morning session and picked up our two DVDs. Then, my alter ego and his beautiful wife went back for the afternoon session, registered, went home. Went back at the end and picked up two more DVDs.

Total time on task - about one hour. Commute time - about 30 minutes total. Benefit - four Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit DVDs and four unique licenses.

    All donated to deserving recipients.

I also got a copy of Ultimate (32-bit and 64-bit) for having the House Party. I am using that one.

Man, and here I was, feeling like a junkie for getting 2 free copies from the launch event, plus the house party copy. Once again, Antman, you've outdone me.
