I'm sorry that i assumed that you weren't a programmer or an IT admin...you never indicated that you were.
As far as wasting time, I guess the biggest issue was that they didn't let you into the morning session for developers. As a person involved in desktop rollout, support, patching, and group policy administration...4 hours of time spent on the newest desktop OS in the Microsoft family was hardly a waste of "my" time. This wasn't really me milking the clock and trying to get out of work for the afternoon.
Actually, my work will require that I install Windows 7 Enterprise Edition following a corporate standard when it's time to run Windows 7. They won't allow me to bring in my own copy of Windows 7 Ultimate to run on my work machine.
My job also provides me with an MSDN subscription so I too have access to all of the software that I need...including Windows 7. However, I'm not allowed to use that software on my home machine and that is what this free copy is for.
So, in this case, the copy of Windows will be for my personal use. It's going to be my knowledge of the product and various things that I learn about the deployment and the support of the product that will bring the benefit to my job...and make the time on the clock worthwhile.
I have no idea what that is. It asks people to host an Event.
Never heard nything about it till now. I am on these kind of Forums a lot - and I see all the mags in this country.
No publicity whatsoever for whatever that was.
Maybe they went to schools?
That is completely different from the big US launch events.
No one I know knew anything about it.
I also went to the St. Louis Event. Unfortunately, I did not read this board prior to it! I emailed The New Efficiency team about the 64 bit disk, and they said a lot of people had this concern, and told me to send an email to tne64@microsoft.com. I did so, and have yet to hear back. They also asked me to be patient. So, I am patiently waiting...
Anyway, the there were no Win 7 DVD (free copy) for attending the Event in Kolkata (India)- 4 hours of lecture and after that a launch-thats it.
After the event day, they phoned me asking "how it was? how you got your copy of Win 7" etc.Anyway I was obviously looking for the DVD, but I had to say the Microsoft guy "it was great" though I was not happy really
Bad luck for me this time
