A litte OT, when i am allowed to do that...
there is a way to change the Language even in the Pro edeition of W7, so you can install any language that is supported via the languagepacks:
you open the run, then cmd.exe , for the coommand line.

DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath: (path of the file with the LP)

bcdedit /set {current} locale en-EN (you change it dependig on what language you are installing)

    bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-EN (here the same)

then you open regedit end delete the key en-us in the string
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MUI\UILanguages\
you restart the pc and thats all
sorry again for the OT, but i think many users will appriciate this workaround

nope, I just received my email with a username and password, went on there and saw Windows 7 Pro, and it said it was free.

So I grabbed it asap. :P

    Huh?

It shows as free for everyone... you don't pay anything once inside MSDNAA

Did they charge your card for the ACM student membership? That's the $19 everyone else is talking about.

At first I thought they hadn't charged me for membership but it seems that it just took a few days for it to deduct on my online statement.

Just received my user name/ password, My wife signed up for me since shes is in college, but her college does not offer access to MSDNAA.

I've been reading about keys can only activate one time, can I use any software to clone the hard drive right away after validation or any other method to backup the activated state? thanks!

Is it possible to do that with Windows Backup or do I need a third-party software?

    Thanks.

I would recommend Clonezilla .. its a free disc imaging program that works well with Windows 7!

After you sign up for ACM, you will (slowly) be given a login to complete your registration. After that, you will need to sign up (at The ACM version of "My Web Page") for the MSDNAA program (opt-in).

Following that, you will recv an email from MSDNAA with login amd membership info.
