Yeah fine, but how long do you think it'll take?

I'm moving into my dorm in a week, I want to have it fully up and running by then!
And since I have a 32-bit Vista (with 4GB of RAM, it doesn't make sense, who's brilliant idea was it to give me the 32-bit?), I'll have to do a clean install since you can't upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit. (At least that's what I was told)

Sigh, I'll give it another 24 hours before I call them and ask what's up.

Does anybody know if they try to verify your "billing address" with the credit card company, or if they just use the number as if you were at a store?

No, but when you opt into MSDNAA they will check to see if your school has an MSDNAA account, so that may be the holdup..

Yeah but I can't even opt in!

It says that I have to have the payment processed or whatever before it even lets me. And as I said, my Visa shows they haven't even attempted to bill me yet.

They will check your VISA and deduct the money within 1 day, as Tews said you need to wait, they WORK on WEEKDAYS 8.30-4.30 . They must be having many regional offices, so the requests can be handled accordingly.
My Developer access was set in 36hrs. although the time that i recieved the mail was 6.30am US Time, I think they worked on my process day before and must have put it to a Queue or something.

Right, so my theory was correct that it's only on week days?

On another note, does anyone know if you can cancel the subscription stuff? I really have no interest in them mailing me an ACM newsletter...

You can cancel the upgrade, they didn't charge the card yet(not until Oct 22).

Most schools that have MSDNAA offer the downloads online. You have to be taking an IT course at the school to have access to it. The licensing will expire when you graduate for the university.
