    Pre-orders back at Amazon

    Posted: 18 Aug 2009
Got an email this morning saying that you can pre-order Windows 7 again. It's not as cheap as last time and Ultimate is included this time, here's the page at Amazon for anyone interested.

I know their prices aren't as cheap as the original pre-order offer that came out because Home Premium is £64.98 and I got mine for £44.97.

My Microsoft Security Essentials went off when I clicked on the link. It came up with this.

    Category: Trojan
Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.
    Recommendation: Remove this software immediately.
Microsoft Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer. You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them (not recommended). To access these files, select the 'Allow' action and click "Apply actions". If this option is not available, log on as administrator or ask the local administrator for help.

Given those are full versions -- not upgrades -- that's actually not bad pricing. Nothing discounted like that in the U.S. has shown up.

Also interesting the way MS is now saying they're shipping everything including IE8 and those in Europe will be able to purchase separate full and upgrade editions, etc., just like the rest of the world.

That full version pricing might go back up a good deal in the future when they start listing upgrades, etc., as well.

Of course if they list upgrade family packs over there later, too, the pricing isn't competitive, at least for Home Premium.

I know it's a pretty decent price I was just saying it's not as cheap as the first offer that was around.

The copy I have ordered is a full version also not an upgrade and mine was cheaper.

mdttb I have no idea why you got an alert as the link was just pointing to a web page at Amazon.

26% off on the Ultimate edition catches my interest here! When the first discounted preorder offers were seen the discounts only applied to the Home Premium and Professional editions.

This is a good one to catch here now seeing the Ultimate edition with some discount there!
