    Hi there
the world is full of slick advertising agencies suggesting corporations abandon well liked and trusted logos for rediculous new stuff that bears no relationship to the product they are trying to sell.

Example --British Post Office -- Royal Mail a trusted brand changed to "Consignia" of all things -- as soon as I heard this my first thought was this means "Consigned to the Bin".

Conservative Party in the UK -- swapped an acceptable logo for a rediculous Green Tree which is in NO way passes its message over to its core supporters or to any potential recruits -- just makes it look SILLY.

B.T with that stupid Trumpet logo

Andersens Consulting changing to Accenture -- now laughingly known as ACCIDENTURE to people in the I.T industry.

and so on and so on.

If something works and is trusted then as an Engineer I suscribe to the Engineers adage --IF IT'S NOT BROKEN DON'T FIX IT.

Why on earth should MS get rid of its Windows logo. What would it do better !!.

If you want to see a prime example of "Modern accessible" logos that are a total laughing stock look no further than that GHASTLY (obviously selected by a "PC Correct committee") logo being used for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

    Cheers

    Well said, Jimbo.

If they're on about changing the logo, then I think that Dennis's suggestion of SBSP is as good an idea as any. In fact, MS could bring Bob out of retirement and then we would have MSBSP (Microsoft Bob Square Pants).

Yeah, hopefully they'll at least add the traditional colors to the squares.
Yea my thoughts as well. I can understand them changing it to reflect the metro UI, but not with just one colour.

I've always thought they should take advantage of 3d and make it a window that infinitely opens on itself.

When I read something like this, I tend to think of when politicians leak something to the press, just to see how it will fly. If that is the case, then I doubt that MS will be dumb enough to change it as depicted in that article, because I'm pretty sure that they keep tabs on this forum, and are getting a pretty good idea that logo will crash and burn.

Fascinating idea, but perhaps too fascinating. That kind of reminds me of the old spinning spiral that was supposed to be able to hypnotize one. Some people are already too fascinated with their computers after reaching desktop, they don't need to be hypnotized before they even login.

Once we get our hands on it we will change it beyond recognition anyhow, and I can guarantee you it will look a dam site better than what they are showing us at the moment .... looks like someone doodled it on their deskpad
