Sadly this has already been publicly announced by Microsoft :/
We're likely stuck with it unless something pretty heroic happens :)

remember, 95,98, me were hybrid 16/32bit kernel
windows 2000 and up were bases on the NT 4.0 32 bit kernel
run winver
NAME = Ver
windows 2000 = 5.0
windows xp = 5.1
vista = 6.0
7 = 6.1
8 (prolly) = 7.0
I don't think this younger generation, those under roughly 22-24 are smarter. They've made them believe they are smarter by dumbing down many things.I wouldn't be surprised. As "smart" as each generation is supposed to be, I think too many things have to be "dumbed" down now.
That is hilarious
You see? You have to be a genius to be a designer.one of Pentagram's designers, Paula Scher, asked the question, "Your name is Windows. Why are you a flag?"
Or Vista 2.0
Finally had to break down and load it up. Navigating with a mouse is a learning effort. After you get the hang of it, it's not too bad. What is irritating is IE 10. It's worse than IE 9. Fire it up and you get a blank screen with a HUGE address bar at the bottom. Lots of errors in the Log too. Things I don't recognize.
Also, can't seem to get audio. Virtual Box couldn't do anything with the Intel chip set and apparently, doesn't recognize the Realtek drivers. It also doesn't recognize my IR receiver or TV card. Bummer.
Yup, I have been reminded of leaving Vista out. Don't know how that could happen.
I enjoyed this from the History of Windows...what an understatment, lol.
Windows is increasingly used at work and home and now includes games like Solitaire, Hearts, and Minesweeper. An advertisement: “Now you can use the incredible power of Windows 3.0 to goof off.”
