Best Buy closings: steep cuts. More to come? - CSMonitor.com
Too bad, I have often went there to see an item in person before ordering online.
That is most likely the reason they are closing as people go to their stores to view the products and then order on the internet as they save a few dollars. Happens to a lot of brick and mortar stores.

This is the reason that lots of them go under.

The educated consumer can make out like a bandit, these days.
Unprecedented access to the internet, makes shopping and price comparisons a breeze. Gone are the days when you had to go to the store to make a purchase.
Give people more choices and once loyal customers, head for the exits.
Best Buy is no longer the best buy.

Not all Brick and Mortar stores will be shut down

Just the one's that are Basicly RAPPING Society that has no Knowledge of Electronics or Gadgets in general These stores prey on people who know squat about anything because there to lazy to read and learn which is Unfortunate for the upcomming generation

Technology is good but what Best buy is making you Pay for is them Having to provide Customer Service with people who have no Knowledge of what there selling

I myself worked in Retail for 12 years in TOYS
Even though i spent time Managing Employes and taking Inventory and Learning about new product you must and I SAY MUST make sure the customers get the best deal possible even if it means compete-ing with others lower stores and that would give them the edge

Another Thing about Best Buy there in store service is just lame if they respected Internet prices as well as Retailers That you can go to they would be up there

Instead they only compete Internet with there Internet store plus all the extra warrenty crap is annoying Unless you are a Complete ape or Uncivillized person there is no need for that crap

It says by Manufaturer 2 Year 3 Years what ever so what do i need BB warrenty for hmmmmm

If they would just cut the BS and get down like frys or Microcenter even Target and Walmart they would survive but with Greedy Suits in charge and more of For us then for them They all will be looking for a new Position soon

I looked at their website today and if they can afford to knock off this much money on an item,
it means that some of their pricing is way out of whack with their competitors.

    Camera - Regular price $229.99 - Sale price $149.99 - Savings $80.00
    Camera - Regular price $249.99 - Sale price $172.99 - Savings $77.00
    Camera - Regular price $179.99 - Sale price $109.99 - Savings $70.00
    TV - Regular price $2199.99 - Sale price $1699.99 - Saving $500.00
    TV - Regular price $1499.99 - Sale price $1199.99 - Savings $300.00

Radio Shack is still quite expensive, but I imagine they will stick around for quite some time, because with the small size of their typical store, and staff, I imagine that their overhead is fairly low. The only thing that would be expensive in their setup is the number of locations that they have available. That number may vary in the future, but probably never on such a scale as to draw a great deal of notice. I only go there when I have no other choice, not only due to their prices, but because they are usually so busy that I have to wait forever to buy most anything.

I know for a fact the workers of Radio Shack work on Comission which sucks
When i was younger RadioShack was actually cool now They are Just there

Some in the Mall and Other places can't really figure out who shops there because customer service is slim to none

I never pay much attention to those kind of "sale prices", because they are not necessarily realistic. Most likely the regular price is based on MSRP, which is higher than most anyone charges. It reminds me of when I bought a controller card from Amazon, which they claimed to have a regular price of ~$200, for which I only paid a fraction of. But after checking it out at the manufacturer's website, the MSRP was only ~$90, and my card was an older version than the current one. When I complained to Amazon, the magnanimously gave me a whole $5 refund...as a credit on my next purchase.
