Windows 8 marketing simplified with just 3 versions

It would appear that Microsoft are reducing the number of Windows 8 RTM versions to no more than three.

Looks like Windows 8 has the same features as Windows 7 Home Premium.

Some confusion, but I think Windows 8 will include Windows Media Center, but WMC will be available in Windows 8 Pro only as an optional cost add-on.

Windows RT name seems to add more confusion. It apparently will not be sold at retail, so that may not matter much.

I don't yet see any reason to go with it, but I might if it's available at a heavy discount, like Windows 7 Home Premium was available for $50.

I agree. It would only be with a very heavy discount that I would even consider going over to Win8.

Probably the only way I will transfer is through having to buy a new machine.

Same here, the only way I'll likely acquire it is if its preinstalled on a new PC that I purchase. I build my own desktops so its only going to happen if I replace my laptop or buy a tablet. All my PC's are currently running Windows 7 and I don't see any reason to be upgrading the OS on those. Still I like the idea that they are reducing the number of different versions of Windows 8.

Count me in as one who won't part with his own money to purchase Windows 8.

il'l wait untill win 7 loses support then il'l upgrade because win 8 doesn't drag me in as it's almost the same and only differince i noticed was the interface and a couple small things like how it looks when copying things ect anyways that doesn't intrest me.Only thing I thought was better was the boot time but that is it and i'm sure if they wanted to they could do that to win 7 but then it wouldn't sale now would it. Anyways if I want a faster boot and app launch il'l just invest in a SSD in the future as of now not to much of importance to me will wait untill they make something better, I ain't buying it.

If it's anything like Windows XP, it will be a long time then. XP is still supported and will be supported till it's almost 13 years old. If all things remain the same, you won't have to replace Windows 7 until 2022.

Kinda like the gap between XP and 7, I think I'll wait until the next OS after 8 to make the jump.
