I agree pal, I'm reckon it belongs in the bin along with Vista
I liked Vista very much, it was a great OS if you had decent hardware.

Financially I enjoyed it as I had more callouts than any other OS to sort out problems, but from a user point of view, I couldn't stand it, Win7 was in my opinion the best thing since sliced bread but win 8 feels like a step backwards

I dont care what they are going to charge, I hate it and I'm going to skip this update.
I agree and hope I have your resolve and can maintain it.

But I'm afraid I will backslide if they offer it at a major discount like they did with the $50 deal on Win 7 Home Premium before it was formally released.

Looking back, I have purchased all Windows OSes except ME, dating back to 3.1. So, I don't have much sales resistance.

But I can't recall being so put off by any of them, so maybe resistance is not futile?

Downloading now, going to install it within Virtualbox. I have held off until now but thought I'd give it a go. :)

Absolutely agree with this. Even if Microsoft made it available to me for the low upgrade price of $9.99, I would not part with the money. This is the very first OS release in quite a long time from Microsoft that I positively have no interest in.

I love and very much appreciate the information exchange on this site concerning Windows 8.

It keeps me up to date BUT.......

I was very happy using XP from 2001 until 2009.

I was not impressed with Vista and skipped it altogether.

I love Windows 7 and there is no reason for a whole nother version of Windows right now. 7 is just that good. Period.

Trying it now. Talk about a learning curve! Where is everything????

About the only thing I like is the fact they have placed the WinRE tools in the SysReserved partition and that's how I have had mine set up.

As far as navigating goes though.....I'm lost!!

I have to say the opposite of a lot of you. I will admit that the Windows 8 Developer Preview was horrible and the Consumer Preview wasn't that great, but this Release Preview is great. The OS feels like I'm running it off of my ssd even though I am running off of a spinner (I didn't have enough room on my ssd for Windows 7 and Windows 8 together). Metro is very fast and fluid and the Desktop is nice too. It does have a learning curve, that all operating systems have. I like Windows 7 and the good ol' classic desktop, but Windows 8 is great.
