Microsoft is going to need to do a lot better than this. These ads would never sell me on 7. Maybe they should do a live dvd like various Linux distros do. Let people get a real feel for how it compares to XP and Vista.

But thats why they gave RC Ultimate for Free and now they are giving away Windows 7 Enterprise for a 90day evaluation.

for every person who ran the beta, rc, and the rtm there are at least 100 who have not tested it. these people do not run alpha or beta anything on their systems. as for giving away anything come on. microsoft could never get away with charging for the rc.

I don't know, the "open" beta for Aion (an MMORPG) was able to charge people $5 a piece for a access code, and the people paid for it too.

people in general are far more likely to pay for a game than the os it runs on. plus after the fiasco of vista pre sp1 and undelivered ultimate extras do you really think people are willing to pay to test a new os from microsoft?

I'm thinking that if people have money, there are some willing to spend it to get the "sneak peak" before anyone else.

For those who say they don't like the ads, maybe we should come up with ideas of our own.

Here's one of my own: There's a lady "working" in an office. Actually she's got a ton of instant messenger windows (MSN Messenger to be exact) typing and communicating with all her friends. She then notices her boss coming, so she quickly grabs the Microsoft Word window and shakes it, making all the other windows disappear. The boss walks by and the woman assures him that she is doing her "work."

This one is a bit silly, but would be kick a$$: Microsoft should go get Daniel Craig for this one. Q has built James Bond a new car with an intelligent computer running Windows 7. James Bond is chasing the bad guys and using the multi touch screen features of Windows 7 and he's tapping on the screen. He drags the targeting system screen to one side of the screen (maximizes on the left) and the GPS window with tracking on the bad guys (maximizes on the right). He then catches up to the bad guys in his car, so Bond goes to the taskbar and taps the pinned app that launches rockets from his car which blows up the bad guys. James Bond is 007 and Microsoft has Windows 7.
