AMD branching out to solid state drives with Radeon-branded SSDs?

Apparently not just satisfied with its Radeon lineup of graphics cards, AMD has already extended the brand into desktop and laptop RAM and is now looking to jump into the highly competitive solid-state-drive market, according to SemiAccurate.com.

The site claims that Radeon SSDs will be hitting store shelves soon, though it has no specifics on timing, pricing, or tech specs. It's also unclear how the drives would be manufactuered, though presumably a third-party source would be used since AMD has no current capacity to build the drives.

I couldn't bring myself to buy AMD Desktop Ram

I don't know how compelled I would be to choose these SSD line up althought

Intel makes good SSD only makes sense and the Article mentions Intel might be giving them a giant boost depending on how the soldered CPU MB combo goes

I would consider an AMD SSD if it performs well or better than the top players. I hope all this solder talk for Intel comes true as I see it as a huge shot in the arm for AMD and we all need additional choices even if we only intend to play with Intel's !

I will buy depending on specs, performance and reliability.

Agree, if Intel goes the soldered CPU path, it will be a huge boost for AMD sales. As long as they don't follow suit, can't imagine they would pass up the market share.

As long as performance is decent,I might buy them. There video cards have worked excellent for me in the past so I hope these works good and can hopefully compete with the big SSD dogs.
