    IonMonkey delivers a faster Firefox

Search suggestions and better malware protections hit Firefox on Android, while the desktop browser gets a faster JavaScript engine and some under-the-hood tweaks.

A new version of Firefox released today puts some extra speed into online games and Web apps powered by JavaScript, thanks to a new compiler called IonMonkey.

Mozilla stated in a blog post announcing the update to Firefox 18 (download for Windows | Mac | Linux) that the new engine makes JavaScript-powered Web sites run up to 25 percent faster than before.

^ you should download some addon that disables addon version checking. This is the best one (its main purpose is testing to see if the addon still works fine in new version).

It's a kind of must-have since they started updating so frequently.

thanks boba, ive used it in the past, its not the add on not working per se,its supposed to be, it passed the compatability test but its disabling itself.
i updated to the newer version of the add on but still no good,
so for the time being i have rolled back to 17.1
luckily i had my firefox profile backed up and i was able to copy out the earlier version of anonymox as the newer version wouldnt work with 17.1,
im sure it will get fixed soon as more people using it report it

i use this one to keep my add ons working whatever the version of FF

    Seems to be working

FF 18 seems to be working OK for me at the moment (in W7).

The real test will come when I update it in XP.
Since about version 6, FF has been a bit "crash happy" in my XP install (actual).

Strangely enough, it runs perfectly in my XP VMs.

Quite liking the page rendering boost. No problems whatsoever so far!

Version 18 is great! All me add-ons work too

Haven't seen it working this well for years!

From version 15 they forced addons to close down and release memory - up to 2GB for 140tabs too.(Memory leaks)

    Version 17 advanced this further.

I'm really enjoying using Cyberfox 64 bit, although I'm not sure what's happening with 64 bit FF lately. It's here if you want to take a look: Cyberfox | Free software downloads at SourceForge.net
