    Opera embraces WebKit in browser brain transplant

    Opera Software, an independent voice in the browser market since the 1990s, will dramatically change its strategy by instead adopting the WebKit browser engine used by Safari and Chrome.

    The Norwegian company announced the move today and said it will show off the first fruits of the work with a WebKit-based version of its Android browser at the Mobile World Congress show in less than two weeks. But the company will move to WebKit for its desktop browser, too.

    Opera is a great browser, perhaps by adopting this new rendering engine, it will help it with some of the struggles it has with loading certain webpages?

    The latest version is 12.14; although a general question to anyone reading this thread, will the new rendering engine consume much more memory, than Opera's present engine?

    Tis a sad day to see Presto dying, now Opera will just be another Chromium fork with some added features.

    I admit I was kind of sad/let down to read this yesterday but sticking with my all time favorite browser.
