Well here is one little rabbit that wont be going back there (IE10) and well Linux is looking pretty good at the moment and it has FF if my memory serves me right cos Ubuntu has and that is just another option.
The Linux operating systems I've tried, all have Firefox.

Could it be that MS are trying to force people to upgrade to W8?

"What are you complaining about? It works perfectly on W8."
    Well, now, there's a surprise!

    Hmmm

Maybe part of the punishment will be code available to completely uninstall IE.

been using ie10 since test-release in December 2012

    no problems..
Looking at my Downloads folder I installed IE10 pre-release on November 14th and never had a problem with it. RTM went flaky after checking the protected mode feature and unchecking it did not resolve the issues. Something in the system synergy I guess.

If it isn't installed, just open the software manager and type Firefox into the search box.

What the software manager is called will depend on the Linux distro you are using.

If you are using Linux Mint, you should be aware that the default icons look different to the normal icons. :)
The default icon is on the left side of the picture.

IE10, installed over IE9, runs just fine on my system. Speed wise, Opera runs circles around both, IE and FF:

Maybe it's my eyes, but the IE10's font rendering engine isn't as good as FF's or Opera's.

As for browser security, IE10 and Chrome run in a built-in virtual-box; Chrome runs in a single instance of virtual-box, while IE10 runs it per tab. FF and Opera do not have this feature and it shows in NSSLabs malware test:

If I need a sandbox, I use the one that came with Avast Internet Security. I don't believe that a Browser should be an AIO tool.
