Therefore, this HAL error is not 'related' to other BIOS/Windows incompatibilities out there.

Believe me - I had an issue that was driving me wild - my BIOS was slowing down both CPU and RAM for no reason and without showing any signs of its nefarious activities in that respect within its own UI.

Reset to factory defaults and all was back to normal - but I had the HAL error in the Event log then and I have it now.
I know dude. Do you think that they didn't tell Intel about that code change before June??

I have the same issue. It's good that you published a link to the whitepaper.

Well, let's suppose they did, but going back to the whitepaper, I take it from the fineprint that M'soft are not actually telling them (BIOS makers) they must go and make that error go away in the BIOSes that are already on our systems, they are telling them to make sure it is gone in the new BIOSes they make for new systems.

I'm almost resigned to the fact that I'm gonna still see this error there 3 years from now.

And, just to add, my Tosh''s sleep transitions are being performed just fine...

Yep, so are mine.

Just wanted to let you know that I was one of the first to submit that bug to MS during beta.

Intel (I spoke to them), doesn't even aknowledge that this is an existing issue at all, anywere.

That's why I mention this as being the same type of issue that I saw when XP came out. At least our systems only report errors and nothing else.

I will try to speak to Intel once RTM is public.
