Mammoth Patch Tuesday planned for next week

Microsoft has a huge Patch Tuesday planned next week, with a record number of fixes to be rolled out. Not only is it the company's largest-ever Patch Tuesday, but it will also be the first to include the Windows 7 RTM in the normal cycle.

There is only one critical patch for seven. Most of the patches are for XP and Vista, and are primary for IE8.

I figured we would see a flow of Win 7 updates finally starting...though if I was an average Joe that installed 7 on the 22nd and saw the auto-updater pop up with 10 or more updates, it wouldn't give me a good feeling.

I say LET THE UPDATES ROLL! In the rare occurence that an update breaks something, most updates progress the OS along in a lot better way.

It is nice to see regular updates in Windows 7 in its initial phases.
This will certainly boost the confidence of users regarding support.

This will come in timely for those who already have the RTMs from TechNet/MSDN or attended any launch event and received the special edition release of the 7 Ultimate as part of the kit. But as expected 7 will continue on to see even more updates as time progresses being the new version just coming out.

As of this summer SP2 for Vista became available then at a much faster pace then the service packs were seen for it's own predecessor XP. Part of the more expedient approach MS is taking advantage of here is the larger scale interest show in testing 7 from the beginning especially those still running the RCs for the large scale variety of different hardware environments to get the bugs out sooner!

Doesn't suprise me. When I loaded the RTM version the first thing it did was go out and get a bunch of updates - mostly to drivers.

I've been seeing good reviews on 7 for the last several months even a few before the beta releases! I think you will that Fox Business News is always the late arrival!
