It would appear that they do not care a great deal for 7. The fact they indicate that XP is still a better performer shows me they haven't done a great deal of testing of 7 on different machines. Albeit, I have to say CNET has never really impressed me.

I honestly don't read OS reviews anymore...they are impartial in one way or another

    In sum
Windows 7 looks like the operating system that both Microsoft and its consumers have been waiting for. By fixing most of the perceived and real problems in Vista, Microsoft has laid the groundwork for the future of where Windows will go. Windows 7 presents a stable platform that can compete comfortably with OS X, while reassuring the world that Microsoft can still turn out a strong, useful operating system.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Agreed, though I would never pick my OS by a review from them, maybe a product, but not an OS.

I'd rather try it out for myself first and THEN decide if I should get it or not. :) Best way to know if something suits you is to try it yourself!

Ugh... I don't agree with the "Office performance" thingy. What the hell are they testing anyway?!?

    Beside that, Windows 7 rox.

<3 W7 .. I haven't been in my XP partition since RTM in mid July!

I've never looked at CNET for OS reviews, just user opinions on devices/products. And even with their Editor Picks/Recommendations on products, I take it with a grain of salt.

    Hi there
These sort of reviews are often based on the "contract" the writer has -- after all if the journalist usually uses (as a lot do) a macbook what would you expect from him / her.

It's a bit like Turkeys voting for Xmas.

Can you imagine BMW writing in its magazine - Don't buy our latest cars - buy a Merc or an Audi instead.

Another source of "non information" unfortunately much beloved by management is Gartner.

If you actually do the EXACT opposite of most of what they have said / predicted you'll be well on top of the game.

    Cheers
