Bunk! With the 7 RC loaded up with numerous programs it still surpasses the startup times seen with both XP and Vista. Vista as a rule takes a little longer then XP to fully load while being a more stable OS. 7 however has been refined to see both faster startups and shutdown/restart times.

7 boots faster, but not by much, at least from my experiences.

The funny part is this study was conducted by a company who makes a set of the notoriously useless "Speed up your PC now!" software.

iolo technologies - The PC Tune-Up Experts <-- The 'study' was conducted by these folks.

Well iolo has to justify their confidenceware somehow.

    I can see this,

iolo said it will release more details and results of its Windows 7 boot-time benchmarks on Monday.
as looking more like an advertisement than a real article when it comes out.

Well, it did startup slow for me (timed by stopwatch) but after awhile it got faster since i was installing programs left and right that i need to use, but guess what? i don't have to shut down as often anymore. the standby function actually works without messing up my sound or my keyboard. It feels more snappy and better, and i have not had one error with Windows 7. I like W7 way more then i will ever like vista. I loathe and detest vista
