Firefox 20 improves private browsing, fixes three critical flaws

    Posted: 03 Apr 2013
Mozilla has fixed three critical security flaws and rolled out several new features with its latest browser update, Firefox 20.

New features include per-window private browsing, a new download manager and the ability to close hanging plug-ins separately.

Previous versions of Firefox had private browsing capabilities but they always required users to open a separate window. Firefox 20 allows users to browse privately without closing or changing their current browsing session.

i liked the new download manager, but this morning firefox 20 played up for me, disabled add ons and still had the same issue, im hoping its a problem that will soon be fixed.
however as a result im now using comodo ice dragon with my firefox profile so everything is as it was with firefox 19.0.2 (thanks john)
ice dragon is really fast and more secure so its win win.
i await a ff update in the next few days hopefully.

Try The Firefox 21 Beta. I am using it and it is working flawlessly. You can download it below:

Ice Dragon was a major PIA. I went with Pale Moon x64. It also uses the standard FF profile.

And.... It's really fast. I run 44 add-ons, 4 plugins, and about 35 scripts. Absolutely no issues.

One more thing, Pale Moon is NOT on the insane update cycle that FF is on.

    My two cents.

You do not have to stay up with the pace. I jumped off on Firefox 21 Beta. I am getting to old to be fooling with a new browser every day. Mozilla I use Pale Moon as my secondary browser. It will only use the Fx profile if you alow it to. Waterfox does not give you that option and neither does Cyberfox.

gone with the 21 beta. runs fine and i have the new dl manager again
im torn between the improved speed of ice dragon and the new functions in firefox.
if only firefox had the ice dragon speed with the new functions it would be ideal, guess you cant have it all ways.

Still on Firefox 12, don't give a rat's ass about updating.

I'll also likely turn off the new download manager and go back to the old one whenever I get around to updating to Firefox v2308 (which it'll probably be at when I get around to updating) because I find the current one perfect for my needs.

I don't like the new Download Manager.

It takes 2 clicks to open it with the toolbar button and it makes managing things more difficult (i.e. clearing items).

just to say firefox 20 is now behaving for me, i rolled back to it from the 21 beta as a test and because trusteer rapport doesnt work in betas.
its fine now. not sure what the issue was. i did update trusteer so maybe that had something to do with it.

    who cares!
it works and thats the main thing.

I use Download Statusbar so I never use Firefox' embedded manager but, when I opened the new one just to check it out, it almost crashed Firefox because of how big my history of downloads has been and it almost crashed again when I clicked "Clear downloads". Yeah... No fan of that notification either because, like I said, I don't use FF's DL manager. Looks like I'll be modifying this command in about:config
    Code:
    browser.download.useToolkitUI
    Change value to TRUE
