I don't know if it is related, but my computer has just started displaying some annoying/weird issues:

    • The Recycle Bin always forgets its "View" settings now (it used to forget occasionally, usually if I opened it when it only contained images)
    • My Event Viewer thinks that Startup (100) is actually Shutdown (200)
I doubt this is the same issue and if I were you I would start a new thread in say, BSOD Help and Support... BSOD Help and Support - Windows 7 Help Forums

    I don't have any BSOD issues. :)

The Event Viewer issue must have been a glitch, because it is making the correct announcements today.

The Recycle Bin "View" setting has always been unreliable (every other folder "View" setting is "rock solid").
Previously, it didn't fail every time I opened it though.
It's only an annoyance (I can live with it).

I'll re-image my PC from my backup and reinstall the updates just to be sure.

The problem only occurs with certain types of security software. If you don't have a problem, leave the patch in.

"The problem is mostly confined to users in Brazil that have the banking security plugin 'G-Buster' installed," Qualys Chief Technology Officer Wolfgang Kandek said in a blog posted on Friday. "G-Buster is locally developed in Brazil by the company 'GAS Tecnologia' and is widely installed in Brazil. Given the number of complaints in Brazil, it is clear that Microsoft does not have this particular combination of Windows 7 and G-Buster plugin in its QA setup."

Recent Windows Update causes huge problems for Win 7 users!

Recent Windows Update causes huge problems for Win 7 users! | Daves Computer Tips

My apologies if this is "Old News".

Microsoft has advised users of Windows 7 (and Windows Server 2008) to uninstall a recent security update (KB2823324) after hundreds of complaints about computers not starting, refusing to re-boot, and other similar issues. Microsoft is blaming conflicts with 3rd party software for the errant behavior. Apparently, some Anti-Virus programs may also be affected, displaying symptoms such as issuing incorrect ‘Invalid License’ messages.
Microsoft is investigating behavior where systems may not recover from a restart, or applications cannot load, after security update 2823324 is applied. We recommend that customers uninstall this update. As an added precaution, Microsoft has removed the download links to the 2823324 update while we investigate.

I had minor issues with FF20 since that update (now that I think about it) I have pulled it today, and noticed a new security update waiting on me in Windows Update :) Thanks for the heads up
